A while ago, the mother of a cute and adorable Deaf girl, Miss Kat, was told by an anonymous commenter that Miss Kat is not a member of Deaf Community because she wears a cochlear implant. Never mind that the child is Deaf and uses ASL. Naturally the mother felt hurt by the hostile rejection of her Deaf child. [...]

They predicted with culturally Deaf people overtaking Gallaudet, it’ll be a place where deaf people using other communication methods won’t be welcome.
Yet Gallaudet continues to promote more diversity among its stakeholders than ever before. The [...]

Jean Boutcher announced due to her reasoning of a quote taken out of context, I am implying that AGBell was a pro ASL supporter.
In her blog: MZ, In your blog entry, Against ASL and Deaf Culture, you say,
“If someone is fluent in ASL, how can using the language show the person biased? I would think if one is [...]

Many Deaf people who disagree with certain ideas are accused of being against ASL and Deaf Culture, presumably by people displeased with their disagreements. Apparently some people are quick to believe these false accusations levied at other people. I would like to raise several questions to help the readers decide if these claims are valid or [...]

Disagreements are permitted. This community is way too diverse to maintain an uniform thinking with the same beliefs, ideas, and philosophies. Unlike the other cultures, with the exception of gay culture, this culture isn’t hereditary for the majority of its stakeholders. I am disturbed by the personal attacks Amy Cohen Efron received for asking a question “Will this Presentation help hearing parents of deaf babies and children understand the situation better?” ‘in her vlog DEAF WORLD AS EYE SEE IT » A Question for DBC and Deaf Community. Several commenters claimed that Ms Efron is engaging [...]

“This is not about tweaking the genes of a hearing embryo, a technical impossibility. It’s about laying two potential children in embryonic form side by side and affording more right to life to the hearing one by making it illegal to issue preference to the deaf one … this is not about creating a hearing [...]

I read with amusement about how Jay Leno commited a faux pas when he mocked the headline of an article titled Barbershop Singers Bring Joy to Deaf School (by lip-synching the words of the songs). Apparently his joke outraged some people, demanding an apology from Leno to the oral deaf educational program, which he wisely did. However, [...]

I stood back, struck with amazement and sadness at the furor, hurt, and anger within the Deaf Community. Are we so different from each other that we truly cannot understand each other and come to full acceptance of everybody?
First of all, I do not want to see anyone hurt, nor do I want anyone fired from [...]
