Both protests were held during the school hours.
 
The grievances of the students in both protests were ignored by the BoT and the administration.
 
The protests resulted in reaction to the excessive power of the Directors, disregarding the wishes of their stakeholders

Recently dissension bubbled up in the Gallaudet Community regarding Jordan, Fernandes, and Kimmel coming back to teach. As tenured employees, they are entitled to teach. Ken Levinson was assailed as an audist after he mocked the grammar and derided the mental health status of  a well-respected deaf accountant in an e mail. That e-mail sparked an outrage in the Deaf Community, which still festers to this day.
