Both protests were held during the school hours.
The grievances of the students in both protests were ignored by the BoT and the administration.
The protests resulted in reaction to the excessive power of the Directors, disregarding the wishes of their stakeholders
The Gallaudet Protest resulted in objection of the appointment of JKF with the perception of flawed [...]

I’ve read the accusations flying around ever since the BoT announced the extension of Davila’s appointment to December 2009. I thought the speculations about Davila’s extended appointment becoming permanent with no time limits were unfounded. Let’s refresh the history. When Davila was appointed as the interim president, Gallaudet wasn’t placed on an academic probation by its [...]

Reviewing what I covered last year, I was staggered by the sheer volume of the blogs produced, especially in the first half of the year. I eventually gave up adding topics after a while, so this list will suffice for now. Overall, this should give you a better idea what topics were explored. Covering the trial [...]

Recently dissension bubbled up in the Gallaudet Community regarding Jordan, Fernandes, and Kimmel coming back to teach. As tenured employees, they are entitled to teach. Yet given their attacks on Gallaudet via the news media, their desire to return to a university for which they bear deep contempt and hostility is puzzling. Whatever, they do [...]

Ken Levinson was assailed as an audist after he mocked the grammar and derided the mental health status of a well-respected deaf accountant in an e mail. That e-mail sparked an outrage in the Deaf Community, which still festers to this day.
The other three who have stepped down are Susan Elliot, Frank Ross, and Charles Williams.
These [...]

Major shake-ups have been occuring at Gallaudet. This is to be expected with the new administration, especially after MSA blasted Gallaudet for its academic deficiencies and lack of shared governance. So Davila, along with Weiner and others, have been assigned the task of cleaning up the mess and restructure Gallaudet to bring it back in compliance with [...]
