I remember Lance, he was a year or two behind me at CSDR. Congrats on his good luck!
December 1st, 2008 at 2:34 pm
Now we are officially in recession… I am sure Lance’s winning the lottery brings a sense of peace to him and his family.

I know this individual. He used to work at Idaho School for the Deaf and used to be our coach until he got into an accident and became paralyzed. I’m so happy for him! Thanks for sharing.

I remembered about Dr Hocokan said in a video comment somewhere in DVTV that he had never bother to visit DeafRead. Am I dreaming?
December 1st, 2008 at 4:09 pm
That has to be definitely a bittersweet thing for him! Congrats to him

Dave, he looks awfully familiar to me.
Karen.. officially? About time! Some people were still in ‘denial’ too long.
DR and Deaf Pundit, yes he deserves it.
scratching, please focus on the topic, not at other commenters. Thanks

He’s a lucky dog. He’s gonna be a peaceful from the 401k chaos.

Recession?? LOL old news…. Leading economists can just kiss my butt, they know NOTHING, they are still using 100 yrs old criterias to determine if we are okay or not,as far as where the economy is doing right now, it is always 1 to 1 1/2 year too LATE, givemme a break….
December 1st, 2008 at 4:52 pm
lol. We aren’t stupid like these economists would like us to appear. We can see signs for ourselves.
The unemployment rate continues to rise and people are holding more on their money. If we see falling prices on gas, houses, cars and other products to the point that some people are now discussing deflation, it is a sign we are in deep trouble economic-wise.

Even Obama warned that things will continue to get worse, before improvement happens. It is scary.
Hmm. Maybe I should go buy a lottery ticket… The lotto here is going for 128 million. That’ll keep me safe if I win!
*winks*
December 1st, 2008 at 5:28 pm
128 million, DP?
That’s it…that calls for a worthy break from my studies and run to the gas station!
I mean…nobody really knows about that, right? I’ve got a chance!
Good thing I’ve got some plastic bottles to return so I can purchase the tickets.
The kids usually use those to buy candies… well not this week! *snickers*
(Before you call me a meanie mom, a neighbor gives them sweet food/candies all the time!)
Good for Lance!

I would not have recognized him, beards were very much frowned on at CSDR! I remember well being sent back to the dorm to deal with a little stubble, under the disaproving look of dorm counselor Mr Jackson.

Scratching, it was not at deafread where I learned about this blog. An alumni of mine from Idaho forwarded me the link to this blog. [the last comment was deleted]
And yeah, only today they finally admitted we’re in recession and have been since December 2007. Many of us knew it back then. I’m so happy for Lance York, a very respected staff at ISDB.
Thanks for sharing.

IamMine,
Yeah. I was driving down the freeway yesterday or so, when I saw the Mega-Millions billboard saying it was at 128 million.
I promise I won’t tell anyone you snuck out from studying, if you don’t tell anyone I haven’t finished my homework yet either.

A new sequel to “Forget Me Not!”
December 2nd, 2008 at 3:48 pm
Just read the article… good for him, but… maybe xxx should gave some of his winning to Social Security, [a comment deleted... too personal]
December 2nd, 2008 at 4:02 pm
My comment too personal? Heck, he probably volunteered that information to the media. Once it’s out, then it’s open for discussion.
I wish him well.
December 2nd, 2008 at 5:02 pm
a little too personal, yes. If he does mention that in the media, you can mention here as long as you bring the link to the article here. A deal?
December 2nd, 2008 at 5:03 pm
MM more likely he doesn’t need a cochlear implant. Seeing that he had been prelingually deaf, the cochlear implant will not help him understand speech.

Soooooooooo Cool!
December 3rd, 2008 at 9:19 am
Congrats to Lance.
May he enjoy his retirements for years to come.
No worries!
