E Malcolm, I am not aware of a website. I can tell you the outcome will not be good. It is detrimental for young children to be handled with adult responsibilities and mixing of roles. These children are not professional interpreters, don't have the knowledge to be able to interpret clearly and aren't emotionally equipped to interpret. It's a very unfair burden to place on children, forcing them to grow up too quickly and destablizing the family dynamics.

Does anyone have any information or know of a website that has information of the problem of young children being placed in personal and inappropriate situations when forced to translate for their deaf/Deaf parent(s).

Thank you

Hi ms katrina, I stepped down from mmkoda this past month, however I am keeping close contact with the committee members, I will be more than happy to post an event in my blog and also encourage them to set up a mmkoda blog too. If you are interested, please feel free to contact lori leal johnson at kodaofmd@aol.com. Many thanks for your interest! I will be blogging occasionally about koda issues as well so please keep an eye out for my entries.

Oops, my typo error... the last word "blog" should show "the" instead of "a" before it.

Again, Michelle you can do it. I think your idea is splendid and can attract more supporters like myself and others.

Best wishes, Katrina

Hi,

I would love to assist you with the conference or a special event. Are you posting a blog for this organization? That way, I could check out occassionally about their events and conferences. If our schedules do fit, I can hand you my support and use my talents. Michelle, Good luck with setting up a blog.

Best wishes,
Ms. Katrina

Michelle, setting up a blog is incredibly easy. Wordpress or even the one offered by DeafRead is free. In fact, I bet this type of blog will attract many readers, including me.

So far we probably have about 5 to 7 koda groups in the U.S. and a couple of them internationally. We would like to see someone set up a blog where deaf parents can chat and discuss about issues that are peritent in raising koda children and perhaps setting up a national organization. That would be a great idea!
