Jess, actually I do see the point. I am saying had the administrators done their jobs in the first place, none of these would have happened.

You are right. When this is over and done, there would be a lot of discussion on accountability, in order for everybody to heal.

MZ, I guess you just don’t see the point. You sound like an elementary child saying “he hit me first, thats why I jabbed with my pencil.
This mess has been going on for many, many years not just the years of Jordan and Fernandes. It is just coming to the forefront now.
Oppression goes both ways and until everyone can lay down thier hateful, rage nothing will move forward.

Sandman, perhaps she doesn’t want to lose face and also exacts revenge on Gallaudet cuz BoT made her resign. This is not very good for her to say so many negative things. She needs to move on.

Jess, they made the mess first. The protest erupted cuz they won’t allow constructive dialogue between them and Gallaudet stakeholders. They learned they cannot oppress people forever.

I’m wondering if Dr. Fernandes is playing the “not deaf enough” card out of a need for sympathy– after all, she’s currently without a job (despite her tenure at Gallaudet), and she could be exploiting this as a way to drum up interest in her as an employee. Nevertheless, she’s either being way too cynical in using this issue (and not caring how destructive this meme is!), or she’s completely clueless about the fact that the protest was about her promotion, and the fact that she was undeserving of promotion.

I’m also taken aback by the comment about the protest as possibly having happened because she is a woman. That’s the first time I’ve heard something like that– and it’s coming from Fernandes??

What’s sad is that while it’s best for us as a community to ignore her since she’s no longer at Gallaudet (for now!), these types of articles continue to reinforce misperceptions and half-truths to a public that doesn’t know any better…

It is good that you have brought up the issue of accountability. However, the BoT, IKJ and JKF are NOT the only ones who have to have accountability.
You see, the angry and demeaning efforts of some of the protesters who were supported in some of your past blogs need to be accounted for.
Damage done to Gallaudet by the protesters seems to disappear in the rage against the BoT, IKJ and JKF. Please remember the damage was a unilateral effort by both he administration and lets not forget some of the actions and words by some of the protesters. You just cannot keep praising some of the immoral actions of some of your own fellow protesters, they are not without fault and should be held accountable for their actions in their part of damaging Gallaudet.
Accountability means everyone gets reviewed not just the people you hate.

I am not responsible for the actions of other commenters here so don’t lump me with others. I will not encroach on the families of the public figures, nor do I approve of this practice.

In case you hadn’t heard, the protest isn’t over, so this is the reason why I’ve covering the protest. I certainly will hold people accountable for their actions which have created extensive damage to Gallaudet and its stakeholders. The only people to be blamed are those people with their destructive behavior. Just like we hold any public figure accountable for their poor decisions. It seems for some people, accountability isn’t in the their vocabulary. Lack of accountability is the reason Gallaudet is in a deep mess.

Mishka Zena, of course I respect your right to be heard. I do not respect people who violate the privacy and sanctaty of peoples personal lives. Someone who you promote on your blog has committed these immoral acts and it doesn’t seem to phase anyone.

It just seems you and others will go to ANY point to try and ruin peoples lives as well as their families who have actually NOTHING to do with your protest.

It is overflowing to the point where it is becoming an OBSESSION with some and at some point must end.

Jess, you and others are of course entitled to your views. Personally I don’t know Fernandes. I only see evidences of her dictatorial administrative skills and the decline of academic programs under her supervision. Her handling of the protest and her divisive and misleading ‘Not Deaf Enough’ showed me clearly she is not fit to be the president of a world renowned university.
